A question I’m asking myself as I prepare for the last big push of the year.  And in the land of The Box, that means hot chocolate, mulled wine, lights, challenging weather, lots of layers and STOURHEAD!  Yep, it’s just around the corner, kicking off on Friday 29^th November, and running until 1^st January.

As always, we’ll be nestled mid-trail among the trees at the Stourhead Christmas Light Trail, serving up plenty of delicious drinks and festive cheer. It’s one of the highlights of our year, and we can’t wait to see everyone wrapped up and ready with mugs in hand!

But before that, we’re excited to join a brand-new event — the Moors Valley Halloween Light Trail, running from Friday 25th October to Sunday 3rd November 2024, right in time for half term. Expect spooky spins on our winter drinks menu: Mouldy Wine, Horrible Hot Chocolate, and a sinister-sounding Vampire’s Kiss Cocktail.

Well… sort of. We’re still waiting for that moment when the sun shows up and coats become optional! In the meantime, I’ve kicked off the season with my new Spring Edit, and this year it’s all about lavender and eucalyptus.

I love dressing The Box — it’s just as important to me that the bar looks as good as the drinks taste. This fresh, floral touch is my way of saying: spring has arrived, even if the weather disagrees.

Unfortunately, our first planned event had to be cancelled due to a water-logged venue (thanks, rain!). But we’re bouncing back and heading to Salcombe Crabfest on Sunday 5th May 2024.

The Box is proud to be returning to Stourhead this year, for their wonderful Christmas Light Trail.  This is the biggest event of our calendar year – not only is it the longest running job (23 nights out of 31), but the scale of the project means a big step up in all areas.  Last year was a steep learning curve in terms of managing a larger team, stock levels, the weather (-8 degrees wasn’t pleasant!) and the sheer volume of customers. 

This year, I’m hoping to be ahead of the game, as I’m aware of the challenges that lie ahead.   The trail is open from 1^st – 31^st December and tickets can be sourced from Ticket Options (seetickets.com) – there is a new route this year, and we can be found mid-trail.   We will be serving mulled wine, hot chocolate, shots and a classic Champagne Cocktail, as well as our usual offerings.  Hope to see you there….!
