Where has the year gone?

Where has the year gone?

Where has the year gone?

A question I’m asking myself as I prepare for the last big push of the year.  And in the land of The Box, that means hot chocolate, mulled wine, lights, challenging weather, lots of layers and STOURHEAD!  Yep, it’s just around the corner, kicking off on Friday 29th November, and running until 1st January.

As always, we will be nestled amongst the trees mid-trail, with lots of delicious beverages waiting for you.  In the meantime, we will be taking The Box to a new event at Moors Valley, for their first Halloween light trail, opening on Friday 25th October, with the last day on Sunday 3rd November – timed perfectly to coincide with half term.  Expect spooky renditions of our regular wintery drinks – think Mouldy Wine and Horrible Hot Chocolate, with the addition of a Vampire’s Kiss Cocktail…  Tickets must be pre-booked for both events, and can be bought online via the venues websites.

Spring has Sprung!

Spring has Sprung!

Well, sort of… still waiting for the moment when the sun graces the scene and coats are a thing of the past!  In the meantime, I decided to get on with my new “Spring Edit” and lavender and eucalyptus are my seasonal flowers of choice.  I love dressing The Box, it’s really important to me that it looks as good as the drinks taste.

Unfortunately our first event of the year got cancelled due to a water-logged venue, but we are packing our bags and off to Crabfest in Salcombe on Sunday 5th May.  More details can be found here Salcombe Crabfest – Sunday 5th May 2024 – Celebrating Salcombe’s Fishing and Tourism – Organised by the Rotary Club of Salcombe

Christmas at Stourhead

Christmas at Stourhead

Christmas at Stourhead

The Box is proud to be returning to Stourhead this year, for their wonderful Christmas Light Trail.  This is the biggest event of our calendar year – not only is it the longest running job (23 nights out of 31), but the scale of the project means a big step up in all areas.  Last year was a steep learning curve in terms of managing a larger team, stock levels, the weather (-8 degrees wasn’t pleasant!) and the sheer volume of customers.

This year, I’m hoping to be ahead of the game, as I’m aware of the challenges that lie ahead.   The trail is open from 1st – 31st December and tickets can be sourced from Ticket Options (seetickets.com) – there is a new route this year, and we can be found mid-trail.   We will be serving mulled wine, hot chocolate, shots and a classic Champagne Cocktail, as well as our usual offerings.  Hope to see you there….!

Hot (chocolate) off the press!

Hot (chocolate) off the press!

I’m delighted to announce that I will be selling Hollychoc’s hot chocolate at all my wintery events this year….   I wanted to work with someone local and I’m very pleased to say that I found Holly and Hollychocs just a few miles from where I live.   She is a multi-award winning chocolatier and I can’t wait for my customers to be able to try her decadent hot chocolate, which is 100% chocolate (no powders here!).  I will be stocking a milk and dark option, with or without lashings of cream and marshmallows… And if you are so inclined, a cheeky shot of rum (or brandy or Bailey’s!).  Be one of the first to try it at our next event on 4 November, at the Makers Christmas Market in Chapmanslade.
